Volunteer Fire Department

The members of our department have taken training in fire fighting, first aid, vehicle extraction, water rescue and wildland fire fighting. It is hard to have everyontoe trained in every aspectof what we do which has progressed a lot further than just a fire department. We are fortunate that all our members have been able to take training in different courses to better able us to respond to any emergency. The volunteers who have served the department as Fire Chief are:
Douglas Gullon 1973 - 1978
J. Robert Browne 1979 - 1990
Keith Tattrie 1991
Harold Gullon 1992
J. Robert Browne 1993 - 1994
Doug Gullon 1995 - 1997
Keith Tattrie 1998 - Present

From an old 1956 International truck that did not start well in cold weather, we now have 4 modern fire trucks.1998 Metalfab Pumper Tanker
1992 Ford 3/4 ton utility truck
1992 Ford Rescue Van
2001 Metalfab Pumper Tanker
We currently have in service 12 sets of breathing apparatus, we are upgrading our turnout gear. All members have pagers; the hall has a modern communications system.A generator was purchased for us by the Auxilliary for the Millennium year. Most recently we purchased a Rescue-Boggan to use for response to ATV / Snowmobile accidents. This was cost shared by the Fire Dept. Auxilliary, Route 6 Snowmobile Club and Fire Department. The Snowmobile Club and ATV Club have given us a list of contacts to call and they will respond to the emergency with the proper machine to tow the Rescue-Boggan.

At present we have 17 active members and would welcome new members to join.Other Activities of the Fire Department include:
• Fire Saftey with Seniors and Elementary School
• Canada Day Fireworks
• Country Christmas
• Santa for area children
• Rememberance Day Parade
